A Casement Window has a hinged sash that opens outward from either side of the frame, fixed panels can also be incorporated on one or more sides of the sash. Using the best in European hardware, friction stays hold the window open and high security multi point espagnolette locking systems with key lock handles are fitted as standard.
They have the same characteristics as an Awning Window, and like awnings they can open to just under degrees.
They can be placed above next to or below fixed glass panels or can be placed next to each other.
Casements can be centre opening like a French door. In these instances we add what is called a floating mullion which allows the opening to be the full width of the two sashes without any mullion coming down the middle of the gap.
Casements can be placed in a row with many sashes next to each other. This is a similar configuration to that of the typical Queenslander. They can be configured to all open the same way (with hinges on the same side) or in any format you like.
